Goodland Academy is greatly honored that Peter Mayer and Friends will be playing at Goodland’s 10th annual Christmas benefit concert. Through its modest beginnings, the annual benefit concert has been bringing the news of Goodland’s mission to a wider audience each Christmas season. We’re humbled by the graciousness of Peter Mayer, R. Scott Bryan, Mark Holland, Chris Walters, Maggie Estes, and Marc Torlina who make a special stop in Tulsa, OK to support Goodland.  The concert features a mixture of jazz, rock, folk, and more to create a holiday musical event that is truly unforgettable. O God, you are the giver of all things, because you have created all things.  Long ago, you called Goodland into being.  Phase after phase, year after year, for a part of two centuries, you have upheld Goodland by your grace.  We pray now that you would again turn to Goodland all resources it needs for today and what it will need, to expand, tomorrow.

            O Jesus Christ, you commissioned your disciples to go everywhere, baptizing and teaching others of God’s goodness and salvation.  The story of Goodland Academy is truly a witness to God’s faithfulness and claiming of young lives.  Guide us, and help us to do our part in proclaiming this story, to the glory of God our Father.

            O Holy Spirit, like the wind breathe into the lives of Goodland’s staff and indeed Goodland’s young students, both residents and day students.  Inspire them, sustain them, hold them up, pick them up, let them be prepared for every dilemma and every blessing.

            O God of eternity, O Lord Jesus Christ, O Spirit of the Living God, we thank you for hearing all our prayers.  We love you, we thank you, we praise you. Amen.

Goodland Academy invites all supporters to our “Call to Prayer”, a weekly conference call that focuses on the needs and children of Goodland. The telephone conference will be led by President David Dearinger and senior members of staff at Goodland Academy. Participants will be able to listen in as the staff give a short introduction and discuss the pressing issues of the week. The listeners will then join in humble prayer as we seek God’s guidance, care, and blessings for Goodland Academy and its mission.

“We’ve always believed that God is actively working through Goodland to change the lives of youth,” David said, “If you look at our history, you see that it was prayer that brought Goodland through challenging times. We remember the words of Goodland Superintendent, Silas L. Bacon who said, ‘God is in this work’. We believe that today and we want to create an opportunity for supporters of Goodland to come together and pray.”
